Macosquin: Teenage girl critical in hospital after crash

A teenage girl is in critical condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Macosquin, County Londonderry.

It happened on the Dunhill Road near the village shortly after 12:50 GMT on Thursday.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) attended the scene and the girl was taken to hospital for treatment, where she remains.

The Dunhill Road was closed following the incident, but has since reopened to traffic.

Police in Coleraine have said an investigation is under way to establish what happened.

They have appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident or who has dash-cam footage to contact them.
