Police are appealing for information after several armed robberies involving knives in Belfast on Sunday.

A 17-year-old was threatened by a man with a large knife on the Lisburn Road at about 19:00 GMT, police have said.

The man demanded money but made off towards Windsor Avenue where, shortly afterwards, a man in his 20s was robbed of his car keys at knifepoint.

Police believe both incidents are linked and have described a suspect, thought to be aged in his 30s.

The driver of the car was not injured during the incident.

The man made off on foot towards Malone Road and has been described as wearing a black puffa-style jacket with the hood pulled up and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Badly shaken

Earlier, a man in his 20s was robbed at knifepoint beside City Hall.

The incident happened at Donegall Square West at about 17:15.

A male approached him asking for a lighter. He then produced a knife, threatened him and took a sum of money before making off on foot towards the rear of City Hall.

The man was not injured but has been left badly shaken.
