In the small village of Cullyhanna nestled south of County Armagh, a local team is making history.

St Patrick's Cullyhanna GAA will take part in the All-Ireland intermediate final against Cill na Martra on Sunday.

It's the biggest game in the club's history and some local supporters say the team will experience a dream many before did not reach.

The clubs half-forward Ross McQuillan is delighted to be "reaping the rewards of coming home".

The BBC spoke to children from the local school who have friends and family on the team and they believe the team will win.

'Once in a lifetime'

Lily-Mae is excited for the game for many reasons but one is that her father is on the team.

"We're very proud of him, he's unbelievable, he coached me and my sister and I wouldn't be playing football if it wasn't for my dad."

After going to 164 training sessions this season with the team, she said she wouldn't miss the match at Croke Park for anything in the world.

"I'll be there. Number one supporter, cheering them on from the side lines.

"For the players, some of them might not ever experience this again, a once in a lifetime opportunity, so you can't take it for granted."

Asked if she thinks the cup will come home she was cautiously optimistic.

"I think it'll be a tight game but I think Cullyhanna is going to come up top - it will be unbelievable for the whole of Cullyhanna - it'll be class."

James is hopeful the team will take the win on Sunday

James has been to every match except one this season.

"I'm going to the match with my family...I think Cullyhanna will win and bring it back to Cullyhanna.

"It would be the first time so hopefully we do."

Asked who his favourite player is, he had a few contenders. "My cousin is on the team...but I'd chose Aidan Nugent!"

Sean said the town has been waiting a long time for this match

For Sean, the wait has been long but he's very sure Cullyhanna will win: "I think Cullyhanna are going to win by a lot - it has been very exciting at school and for waiting for the match...I can't wait!"

Sean said if St Patrick's win it'll be a big deal for Cullyhanna, "I think that everybody would be celebrating at the club - everybody's very excited for this game."
