A controlled explosion has been carried out on a World War Two mortar discovered in County Armagh.

Police received a report of a suspicious object in Woodlawn Heights in Richhill at about 17:45 GMT on Sunday evening.

Local officers attended and stayed at the scene overnight before ammunition technical officers (ATO) arrived.

It was later confirmed to be an unexploded WW2 device and was later destroyed.

No homes were evacuated or roads closed during the security alert.

A police spokesperson thanked the public for their cooperation, allowing officers to bring the alert to a "swift conclusion".
