'My ancestors made their tea from Lough Neagh'
With two confirmed reports since the start of 2024, toxic blue-green algae in Lough Neagh has potentially already begun to wake up again.
Last summer, it brought the largest freshwater lake in the UK and Ireland to the headlines, and it brought misery to those who live and work around and on the lough.
As a seventh-generation fisherman on the lough, Gary McErlain felt the effects acutely.
