Maria Eagle: Greening can block Network Rail bonuses
Shadow transport secretary Maria Eagle has said that Tranport Secretary Justine Greening could veto bonuses for bosses at Network Rail, arguing that she "has more of an influence than she is letting on - and she should use it".
The transport secretary will attend Friday's meeting of the rail body and plans to vote against a £340,000 bonus plan for chief executive Sir David Higgins, but said she alone could not stop it with her one vote.
Ms Eagle was also asked whether Labour would renationalise the railways, and said: "I have ruled nothing in, and I have ruled nothing out."
