Abu Qatada debate: Alan Johnson and Shami Chakrabarti

Former Home Secretary Alan Johnson argued with Liberty's Shami Chakrabarti over the fate of Abu Qatada amid calls for his deportation to Jordan.

He explained why evidence against the terror suspect - that he had seen - could not be used in open court, but she said the Jordanian regime could not be trusted.

And Michael Portillo wondered why Qatada could not be charged with a hate crime when ex-England captain John Terry had been.

The debate followed Shami Chakrabarti's This Week film putting the case for Abu Qatada to face a trial in the UK.
