More shorter school holidays says NAHT's Russell Hobby

The National Association of Head Teachers' general secretary suggested a change to school holidays with regional variations - with more but shorter breaks spread through the year.

Russell Hobby said illnesses and holidays can mean some children miss a month each year.

He spoke after reports that Education Secretary Michael Gove was to announce head teachers should get powers to stop term-time holidays.
