Cameron says parliament should decide prisoner vote rights

David Cameron has told the House of Commons that the UK Parliament should decide whether prisoners are allowed voting rights, not Europe.

Answering a question from Nigel Dodds MP, the prime minister said he agreed that prisoners should not be allowed the right to vote, and that Parliament should be the body to make such a decision.

The European Court of Human Rights has previously ordered the UK to rethink its absolute ban on convicted prisoners voting.
