Michael Gove policies on free schools and academies

Education Secretary Michael Gove said new schools were "desperately needed" as he was asked if free schools were taking money away from the existing sites.

His announcements were debated by Labour's shadow education minister Karen Buck and Craig Whittaker, a Conservative member of the Education Select Committee.

Journalists Polly Toynbee and Fraser Nelson gave their views.
