Party conferences: Gavin Hayes and Stewart Jackson
Party conferences are "far too corporate and dull" said Conservative MP Stewart Jackson who looked back to "more electric" gatherings in years gone by.
He recalled Norman Tebbit attacking then-prime minister when he "really gave John Major one between the eyes" at his own party conference after the UK left the ERM in the 1990s.
Gavin Hayes from Policy Review Intelligence, which has been looking into the annual conferences, said they need "modernising and transforming" and those attending can easily spend £1,000.
They debated potential changes after watching a Daily Politics collection of memorable conference moments.
