Cameron on Letterman show: Clive Anderson and Mike Hale

David Cameron "did very well, he done you proud" on the Late Show with David Letterman, said Mike Hale of The New York Times.

He was reviewing the prime minister on the high-profile programme in New York, and said Mr Cameron was "very graceful". But he added that there would be bigger news stories on the agenda in the US.

Clive Anderson said the PM was "not really that well established enough" in America, and said he thought it was odd to ask questions about the Magna Carta and Rule Britannia.

The former host of Whose Line Is It Anyway explained how he talked himself out of an appearance on the programme a few years ago. "I thought it would be the wrong time for me to be on it," he said.
