CPRE on Growth and Infrastructure Bill planning changes

The government has been "backtracking on its commitment to localism", the Campaign to Protect Rural England's head of planning has claimed.

John Hoad said the Growth and Infrastructure Bill gave Eric Pickles the powers to "designate failing councils".

But Mr Hoad said these were the ones who took longer as they gave "proper consideration to difficult issues".
