PMQs: Cameron on police commissioner election costs

Labour MP Tristram Hunt asked the prime minister if it was a good idea to "waste £100m" on police commissioner contests in England and Wales, while libraries were closing and teachers were being laid off.

David Cameron praised the "local law and order champions who are going to stand up for the public".

And he mocked Labour for complaining that too much money was spent on the new jobs, and also that too little was spent publicising the elections, saying he could not accept both criticisms.
