Hammond and Thornberry on NHS charging smokers and drinkers

A former TV Apprentice contestant found little support for her plan for those said to drink, smoke and eat too much to pay some of their own health care costs.

Conservative Philip Hammond said the NHS being free a the point of need was a "cornerstone" and there was no review planned. He asked: "Where would it stop?"

Labour's Emily Thornberry appeared to borrow a phrase from her political opponents and said "we all are all it together". She said free health services was "one of the great things about being British and we do not need that undermined".

In a Daily Politics film, Katie Hopkins called for additional payments for health services to hold people morally and financially accountable for the state of their health.
