Chris Skidmore on petitions against planning decisions

An MP has suggested a "community right of appeal" if half of the people in an area sign a petition against a planning decision.

Chris Skidmore said it would be "localism with teeth" but added that "localism can't be an excuse for nimbyism" and just a handful of residents would not get the power to block developments.

He spoke to Jo Coburn about how his bid fitted in with the government's localism act, which was designed to give people more say over planning in their area.
