Planning changes: reaction to A21 road scheme for Kent
Last year the government slimmed its planning guidance for England from 1,000 pages to just 50 with a "presumption in favour of sustainable development".
Ministers said it would boost the economy, but conservation groups claimed the changes threatened England's countryside.
Sunday Politics South East political reporter Bhavani Vadde looked at a test case in Kent where plans to widen the A21 would mean the loss of some ancient woodland, but could also bring economic prosperity.
