Labour conference: Rachel Reeves on cutting deficit

Labour will make no spending commitments in its 2015 general election plans that are not paid for, the shadow work and pensions secretary said.

Reviewing Ed Balls' speech to the party conference, Rachel Reeves told Andrew Neil there would be "no extra spending in our manifesto".

She said the party would not follow the Liberal Democrats over its 2010 election promises, and said: "You can't kid people that there's going to be loads of extra money to spend."
