Recall bill powers: Zac Goldsmith and Tom Brake

The criteria for the government's Recall Bill being debated on Tuesday were so narrow that it would hardly ever be used, claimed Conservative MP Zac Goldsmith who has been pushing for voters to be able to sack their MPs more easily.

But Tom Brake, Lib Dem deputy leader of the House of Commons, said the government's plans had the "correct balance", while Mr Goldsmith's proposals would enable a free-for-all.

They spoke to Jo Coburn on the Daily Politics ahead of the bill's second reading in the House of Commons later on Tuesday.
