Malcolm Bruce on Norman Baker Home Office resignation

Previous Tory home secretaries have been the "leader of the rallying for the right wing" which would make it "very challenging" for a Liberal Democrat, said the party's deputy leader.

Malcolm Bruce spoke about Norman Baker stepping down as Home Office minister, saying he might have been a "maverick in opposition" and a surprising choice for a minister, but many agreed he was hard-working and effective.

And Mr Bruce said the Home Office would have been a much better place if it had operated in a "coalition kind of frame".

Since this interview with Jo Coburn on Tuesday's Daily Politics, Lynne Featherstone has been appointed to take Mr Baker's role.
