Tories pledge money for transport, housing and energy

The Conservative government has said it will set up a new independent body designed to speed up major transport, housing and energy projects, to be chaired by former Labour minister Lord Adonis.

Chancellor George Osborne is to announce at the Tory Party conference that an extra £5bn will be spent on various infrastructure projects.
