May leadership challenge would be better - Shapps

Prime Minister Theresa May should face a leadership challenge, her party's former chairman has said.

Mr Shapps told the BBC he had the backing of about 30 Conservative MPs after Mrs May's "gamble" of the snap general election "didn't pay off".

Environment Secretary Michael Gove has defended Mrs May as a "fantastic" leader, adding that she should stay "as long as she wants".
