In pictures: The Northern Lights over Scotland
Graham Scott from Alford, Aberdeenshire said this was the best aurora he has seen in Scotland.
The sight of the Northern Lights over Lammermuirs prompted Thomas Greenough to drive beyond Duns for a better view.
The Aurora Borealis was barely visible to the naked eye in Clackmannanshire. Brian Smith used a camera with long exposure for this shot over the Ochil Hills.
Byron Griffiths said the street lights are routinely switched off at midnight in the Western Isles. This photo was "taken in a hurry between heavy showers" in Swordale, Isle of Lewis.
A clear night over Walls in the Shetland Islands gave Frances Taylor an opportunity to capture this view at 23:00.

The Aurora Borealis was visible from the observatory at the University of St Andrews. Joe Llama said the James Gregory telescope is the UK's largest operational optical telescope.
Alan C Tough first saw the Northern Lights on Sunday at 1830. He said they were still visible at 0430 on Monday from Elgin, Moray.
