Facelift begins on John O'Groats

John O'Groats has been described as the country's most embarrassing tourist attraction.

The town has been awarded the Carbuncle Award for Scotland's most dismal place.

After years of failed attempts, work is underway on the multi-million pound redevelopment of the town.

It is hoped the first phase of the transformation will take place in time for the Olympic Torch to pass through the village in June.
