Sturgeon 'not convinced' by case for Syria airstrikes

Nicola Sturgeon has said she is open to persuasion but currently "unconvinced" that there is a case for mounting air attacks on Islamic State targets in Syria.

Speaking to BBC Scotland's political correspondent Glenn Campbell as she marks her first year as first minister, she refused to be drawn on whether airstrikes would be legal without a United Nations mandate.

Ms Sturgeon said she believed Britain should accept more refugees from the Syrian conflict subject to stringent security checks.

She also said national security would be "core" to decisions about policing resources in Scotland.
