Brain family 'overwhelmed' by leave to remain

An Australian family threatened with deportation from the UK have said they are "overwhelmed" to have met the visa requirements allowing them to stay in Scotland.

Gregg and Kathryn Brain, and their son Lachlan, had failed to meet a deadline to qualify for a new visa.

The UK government had argued that were no exceptional circumstances that would justify allowing the family to stay.

Kathryn, the original visa applicant, has since found work which meets Home Office requirements and the family has been granted leave to remain.
