The Northern Lights have put on a majestic display in the skies above Scotland.

The ethereal light display also known as Aurora Borealis was photographed by people in areas including Shetland, the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire overnight into Monday, and then again into Tuesday.

Many spectacular images of the natural phenomenon were captured by photographers including BBC Weather Watchers.
