The wintry weather is set to continue across much of Scotland, with warnings of further snow and ice.

Following sub-zero conditions in some areas on Saturday, more snow is likely on Sunday.

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for the whole country that are in place until 21:00 on Sunday.

It comes after heavy snow fell across central Scotland on Friday, causing disruption for commuters.

Some of the worst conditions were seen on the A9 around Dunblane and the A83 and A85 in Argyll and Bute.

Police received numerous reports of vehicles getting stuck on the A82 and A85 near Crianlarich due to the conditions.

A rest centre was set up at Crianlarich Village Hall and 58 people stayed there overnight.

The roads were later cleared and vehicles freed, allowing those at the rest centre to return home on Saturday morning.

Insp Barbara Hughes, of Stirling Police Station, said: "Thanks to the hard work of our officers and our partners we have been able to clear the roads and allow those people whose vehicles were stuck on the A82 and A85 last night to return home.

"I would also like to thank the local volunteers who assisted those at the village hall for their kindness in supplying resources and refreshments."

She reminded everyone to plan ahead and have sufficient fuel and supplies such as warm clothing, food, water, and a fully charged mobile phone.

At some points on Friday, the M73, M80, M8 and M90 were also affected affected by snow and ice.
