Council tax freeze delivers when people 'need it most'

First Minister Humza Yousaf has set out plans for a council tax freeze from next year.

During his keynote speech at the SNP conference in Aberdeen, he said while the government could not stop all bills from rising, it should act where it could.

He said: "I never thought that in 2023, people on above-average salaries would be coming to my constituency surgeries asking for financial help."

The SNP leader said the council tax freeze demonstrated his party was "delivering for people when they need it the most".

Mr Yousaf did not set out how the government would make up the budgetary shortfall for councils which would have raised taxes.
