'I've lost 42 members of my family in Gaza attacks'

A Palestinian living in Glasgow has said 42 of his family members have been killed in the Gaza attacks.

Dr Ibrahim Khadra, who works at Strathclyde University, spoke at a rally in the city centre, where thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered urging an end to Israel's attacks.

More than 1,000 Metropolitan Police officers were deployed for a demonstration in London and marches have also taken place in Manchester and Belfast.

The protests across Scotland and the UK come as Israel expands its strikes, three weeks after Hamas launched a cross-border attack which killed 1,400 people and saw 229 people kidnapped as hostages.

Since then, the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says more than 7,500 Palestinians have been killed as Israel carried out retaliatory strikes.
