Scottish council tax freeze is here to stay - Deputy FM

Deputy first minister and finance secretary Shona Robison has said that the freeze on council tax across Scotland "is staying" in the next Scottish Budget.

Ms Robison will set out her budget proposals on Tuesday, but has said the 2024-25 budget is being set amid some of the most difficult financial conditions in the history of devolution.

When questioned on BBC Scotland's The Sunday Show on how the council tax freeze would be implemented, Ms Robison said the Scottish government would take "a fair, fully-funded approach, that is fair to local government."

She said: "We will be working with local government in terms of what is a fair analysis of what a council tax freeze will be based on."
