The Vaccines have been added to the headline acts at Edinburgh's Hogmanay party

The full line-up for one of the world's most famous street parties has been revealed, with The Vaccines added to the list of headline acts.

Organisers said a "world-class" list of performers would help revellers bring in the new year at Edinburgh's Hogmanay event.

Up to 80,000 partygoers are expected to see Primal Scream, DJ Mark Ronson and electro-pop band Friendly Fires.

The Vaccines will headline the Waverley Stage, with Kassidy supporting.

Primal Scream will headline the Concert In The Gardens, Ronson will be on the East End DJ stage, Friendly Fires will play on the West End stage and Cuban Brothers will be at the Mound.

Street games

Other acts taking to the seven music stages include X Factor's Jade Richards, Frisky and Mannish, as well as Radio 1 DJs Jaymo and Andy George.

This year's event will also see sites across the Scottish capital turned into playgrounds on 1 January.

Revellers are invited to take part in two teams, Uppies and Doonies, to compete in street games at St Giles Cathedral, the National Museum of Scotland, the Hub or Dancebase.

Pete Irvine, director of Edinburgh's Hogmanay, said: "The eyes of the world will be on Edinburgh, the home of Hogmanay, as we launch 2012, the year of the London Olympics.

"We are delighted to have such a fantastic line-up for the street party, the best we've had in 19 years."

There will also be a Celtic world stage for the first time, where Scottish bands Peatbog Faeries and Capercaillie will play.

Global reputation

The events are part of Edinburgh's Hogmanay Festival programme, which runs for three days from Friday 30 December until Sunday 1 January.

There will be two fireworks displays, from either end of Princes Street, to welcome in the new year.

The programme of events includes a torchlight procession and the Loony Dook, in which revellers brave the cold waters of the Forth on New Year's Day.

Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop said: "Edinburgh is the home of Hogmanay, it is the best place in the world to see in the bells.

"This year's fantastic programme can only reinforce that global reputation."
