John Menzies has won a renewed contract to distribute The Sun, The Times and Sunday Times in a deal worth £158m per year.

Its current contract has been earning the Edinburgh-based newsprint distributor £125m in revenue each year.

The seven-year deal will extend its reach with the News International titles to Lancashire, Kent and Northern Ireland.

The additions to its distribution will begin for England in October.

John Menzies will then cover the distribution to Northern Ireland from September 2013.

David McIntosh, managing director of Menzies Distribution, said: "This is a very significant contract renewal for the business and allows us to plan positively for the future."
