Industrial action may mean the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh along with three other museums in the Lothians may be closed on Friday.

Officials said they would make a decision on the day when they knew how many staff had turned up to work.

The strike is over a long-running dispute about weekend allowances.

The National War Museum in Edinburgh, National Museum of Flight in East Fortune and National Museum of Rural Life in East Kilbride may be affected.

The National Museum of Scotland was closed on Boxing day last year due to strike action. It would normally open from 12:00 until 17:00 on Boxing Day.
