School parking ban plans for parents in Edinburgh

Parents could be banned from parking near 11 schools in Edinburgh under council proposals.
Traffic would be banned from streets outside or around school entrances during the school run.
A total of 31 schools wanted to take part in the pilot and a list of 10 schemes covering 11 schools has been drawn up.
If approved by the transport and environment committee next week the plan will go to consultation.
The pilot schemes would start in September 2015.
The schools taking part are Duddingston, St John's RC, Abbeyhill, Colinton, Sciennes, Cramond, Towerbank, St Peter's RC, Clermiston, Bonaly and Buckstone primaries.
Lesley Hinds, Edinburgh City council's transport convener, said: "We were really delighted with the level of interest from schools right across Edinburgh so we wanted to make sure we rolled out the pilot scheme to as many school communities as we could.
"The next stage is to take the proposals out for consultation in each of the school communities, starting with the five sites (six schools) in Phase 1."
