Games organisers are seeking commercial revenue of about £100m

The first major sponsor for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow has been revealed.

Swiss watchmaking brand Longines has become the first official partner for the games in a deal worth about £5m.

Longines already sponsors high-profile events in sports including tennis, skiing and horseracing. The company will look after timing, scoring and results in Glasgow.

The Glasgow 2014 organisers have to secure £100m in commercial revenue.

The "tier one" sponsorship from Longines is the first of several major agreements being sought by games organisers.
