Regeneration plans for business sites near Rutherglen

Multi-million pound plans to regenerate industrial and business land on the outskirts of Rutherglen have been approved by South Lanarkshire Council.
It backed a £15m project to revamp vacant and derelict land around the former Shawfield Industrial Estate.
Councillors also approved a £6m scheme to bring a derelict former factory site in Farmeloan Road back to business use.
It is hoped that both projects could attract additional investment and jobs to the area.
The first project would aim to create a new National Business District at Shawfield, which could be capable of supporting up to 15,000 jobs.
Pedestrian bridge
Planning approval means more than 350,000 sq m of business space could be developed over the next 20 to 30 years.
A new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the River Clyde with links to Dalmarnock is among the plans which have already been approved.
Proposals also exist for the creation of a new Shawfield Cross on Glasgow Road, which would include a pedestrian-friendly civic square and links to the new bridge.
Approval was also given for a new four-storey office building on the Farmeloan Road site, which used to be home to the Monogram factory.
The council believes the building would have enough room to support about 210 jobs.
