Teenager critical after crash with gritter in Turnberry

A 17-year-old driver is in a critical condition after his car was in collision with a gritter in South Ayrshire.
The crash happened on Girvan Road in Turnberry at about 16:50 on Saturday.
The teenager was taken to Ayr Hospital suffering from serious head and neck injuries before being transferred to the Southern General Hospital.
His 17-year-old female passenger was also taken to Ayr Hospital, however her injuries are not life-threatening.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash which involved a southbound grey MG ZR car and a Daf gritter.
