Det Ch Insp Cameron Miller, from the major investigation team, said officers would remain in the local area to address any concerns from the public.

"I would ask them to support our ongoing investigation by getting in touch if they have any information at all that could assist us," he added.

"Inquiries so far confirm Mr Shaw was well known locally, and my team and I are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have been in the Jedworth Road area around 08:00 on Wednesday, 21 April, and 18:00 on Thursday, 22 April.

"If anyone remembers seeing or speaking to Mr Shaw, please contact us."

The officer also appealed to anyone who may have CCTV or other footage they thought would be relevant to contact police, external.

"Although our investigation is in the very early stages, I believe the answer to why Mr Shaw was murdered lies within the local community," he added.
