Water supply restored to thousands in Inverclyde and Renfrewshire

Water supplies have been restored to about 36,000 properties in parts of Inverclyde and Renfrewshire after a mains pipe burst overnight.
Scottish Water said customers in Paisley, Erskine, Bishopton, Greenock and Port Glasgow had experienced a loss of supply, low pressure or discoloured water.
The burst occurred close to the Barrholm roundabout on the A726 in Erskine just after midnight.
Supplies were restored mid-afternoon.
The road remains closed but is expected to reopen after repairs to the water main repair have been completed.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: "We were quickly able to isolate the water main and begin the process of restoring supplies by diverting water from other parts of the network.
"Given the large number of households affected this will have taken some time but we are confident we have now completed that process.
"The damaged section of pipe is now being repaired and once that is completed it will be reconnected to the network."
