Man in court charged with Glasgow murder

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 47-year-old in the Sandyhills area of Glasgow.

Mark Byrne, 49, appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court where he was accused of killing Paul Byrne.

The accused, from Glasgow, did not submit a plea, nor to a separate charge put to him under the Road Traffic Act. He was remanded in custody.

Paul Byrne died in hospital after being found seriously hurt at a property in Glenalmond Street on Sunday.

Det Insp Cheryl Kelly said: "Our thoughts remain with Paul's family at what continues to be a very difficult time for them."
