Man charged with murder of woman in Glasgow

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 50-year-old woman in Glasgow.

Amanda McAlear was found seriously injured in a property on Rye Road, in the city's Barmulloch area, at about 12:10 on Sunday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

John Higgins, 62, made no plea or declaration at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Mr Higgins, from Glasgow, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
