Body found in search for missing Ayr woman

A body has been found in the search for a woman who went missing from Ayr more than two weeks ago.

Laura Wilkie, 43, was last seen sitting on a bench near the town's Millennium Bridge at about 20:30 on 18 December.

The body of a woman was found in the Rozelle Park area. Police said Ms Wilkie's family had been informed but that formal identification had not taken place.

The death is being treated as unexplained.

Air, dive and marine units had been involved in the Police Scotland search for Ms Wilkie.
