Two XL bully-type dogs killed a Chihuahua and attacked its owner in the east end of Glasgow.
Police Scotland said the incident happened between 16:20 and 16:35 on Monday in Finnart Street, Bridgeton.
The 25-year-old woman sustained a back wound but did not require hospital treatment.
Officers said inquiries were ongoing to establish the exact circumstances and to trace the owner of the dogs responsible.
Scotland followed the UK in introducing new laws on XL bully-type dogs last month.
Last week a woman was charged after two children were hurt in a suspected XL bully attack in East Ayrshire.
And in a separate incident last month a teenage girl was reported to the procurator fiscal after an XL bully-type dog injured three people and another dog in East Kilbride.
The new legislation was brought in after the breed was linked to a string of serious and sometimes fatal attacks.
England and Wales announced a ban on the dogs last year, introducing restrictions from 31 December 2023 and the requirement for exemption certificates from 1 February 2024.
The Scottish government said it had to fall in line with those measures in order to close a "loophole" which meant some owners south of the border were giving away their dogs to be rehomed in Scotland.
Since 23 February, owners in Scotland must keep the dogs muzzled and on a lead in public places.
The breeding, selling, abandonment and exchange of the dogs has also been banned from that date.
