'Much loved' cyclist killed in HGV crash near Glasgow named

A cyclist killed after being struck by a lorry close to a nursery near Glasgow has been named.

Una Brandreth died following the collision involving the HGV on Manse Road in the city's Bearsden area at about 08:10 on Tuesday.

Emergency crews attended, but the 56-year-old, from Stafford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road outside Bearsden Early Years Centre was closed for more than five hours during an initial investigation.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Ms Brandreth's family described her as a "much loved, sister, mother, and daughter".

They added: "Una will be much missed by everyone who knew her.

"We are asking for privacy at what is a very difficult time for us all as we come to terms with our loss.

"We would like to say that we are massively grateful to all the emergency services that were involved in this tragic incident and to everybody else that stopped to help Una."

The male driver of the HGV was not injured.

Police Scotland said inquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

A spokesperson added that appeals for information, external were continuing and anyone who may have seen or captured the incident on dashcam footage to get in touch.
