Police name man killed in Paisley mobility scooter crash

An 88-year-old man killed after his mobility scooter was in a crash with two cars in Paisley has been named by police.

George Johnson died at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow a short time after the incident at 20:00 on Monday.

The collision at the junction of Gauze Street and Silk Street involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Vauxhall Astra.

Police Scotland said inquiries into the crash were ongoing.

The road was closed for seven hours while an initial investigation took place.

Sergeant Robert Mackie said: "Our thoughts remain with George's family and friends at this difficult time.

"We also ask anyone with dash-cam footage of the area to come forward, external."
