Dounreay plutonium plans outlined for consultation

  • Published

The UK government has launched a consultation on what should be done with plutonium at the Dounreay and Sellafield nuclear power sites.

Three options have been suggested for the material at Dounreay on the Caithness coast.

They are reusing the fuel at new or existing reactors, disposing of the plutonium as waste or keeping it in long-term storage.

The consultation will run until 10 May this year.
