Public views to be sought on merging Caithness schools

Public views are to be sought on plans to amalgamate schools in Caithness.
Highland Council has proposed merging Hillhead and North primary schools on the North Primary site.
It has also been suggested South and Pulteneytown primaries be merged on a new campus for three to 18-year-olds at the site of Wick High School.
The council's education, culture and sport committee has agreed to run the consultation from 15 August to 23 September.
Councillors also agreed a name for a new amalgamated school that will replace the existing Conon Bridge and Maryburgh primary schools when it opens in August 2012.
The name Ben Wyvis Primary School was the most popular suggested for the new school by pupils, staff, parents and local residents.
