Highland Council group to consider West Link plans

The proposed new road would need to bridge the River Ness
A working group made up of Highland councillors and officers is to be set up to examine eight potential routes for a new road in Inverness.
The West Link aims to take traffic from the city's Southern Distributor Road to the A82, avoiding the city centre.
Some residents started a campaign to prevent the new road crossing public parks, including Whin Park.
The working group would identify a preferred route, or routes, for public consultation.
According to a Highland Council report, external, the period of consultation could run from 23 November this year to 16 January 2012.
The working group would consider the feedback before reporting to a full meeting of the council.
In the report, officers described the West Link as a complicated project, partly because it must cross the River Ness and Caledonian Canal.
