The death of a young man whose body was found at a derelict property on Lewis is being treated as suspicious by police.

The man, who was found in the Steinish area of Stornoway during a missing persons search, is believed to be Liam Aitchison.

The 16 year old, from Uist, was last seen in Stornoway's Anderson Road area at about 21:00 on Tuesday 22 November.

Northern Constabulary said his family was being kept informed.

Liam had been living in the Stornoway area for the past couple of months.

Police have appealed to anyone with information about Liam's movements for the week prior to his disappearance to contact them.

Area Commander Gordon MacLeod said: "Now that this is being treated as a suspicious death, it is important to get as much information as we can."
